Course objectives
The course is designed mainly for history students and archivists, principally from the PVH (Department of Auxilliary Historical Sciences and Archive Studies). The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the principles surrounding the conservation of historical monuments: subject; function and meaning; history; main directions; representatives and their pivotal work; national legislative directives; international documents; main activities; monument categories; individual and collective protection of cultural monuments; state castles and stately homes; restitution problems; the presentation of cultural heritage; the issue of historical sites listed in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage Centre; international co-operation in this area.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
- to understand main conceptions of care of historical monuments;
- to learn history of care of historical monuments;
- to understand basic sections of care of historical monuments;
- to describe importance personalities of province;
- to understand care of historical monuments at present;
