- Course objectives
- The students get acquainted with the beginnings of the history of the German literature during the first term. German period – Gothic translation of the Bible, the eldest period – runes, runic inscriptions and invoking formulas, heroic poetry – forming of the Frank Empire, culture and literature of the period of Charles the Great – first lyric and epic literary works of the old German period (8th and 9th century), religious literature of the 11th century.
