Course objectives
The objective of this course is to provide its students with a basic overview of historical development since middle Bronze Age IIC until the end of late bronze age (1200 BC) in Syro- Palestine area, as well as with information about relevant written and archaeological material.

  • 1. Introduction to problems – topography at the end of Middle and Late Bronze Age, history of research
  • 2. Chronological overview of the end of the Middle and Late Bronze Age – North vs. South
  • 3. The Middle Bronze Age IIC in Syro- Palestine
  • 4. The Hyksos phenomenon
  • 5. The Late Bronze Age in the northern areas – problem of Hittites
  • 6. The Late Bronze Age in the southern areas – Egyptian military expansion
