Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with the main notions relating to morphological analysis (morpheme, allomorphy, morphonological alterations, parts of speech etc.). Students should be able to apply these notions on the description of morphosyntactic and morphonological structure of Czech.
Syllabus
  • 1. Parts of speech – criteria of classification 2. Morphematic analysis - morpheme, allomorphy 3. Noun 3.1 Prototypical grammatical and semantic features, syntactic functions 3.2 Paradigms 4. Adjective 4.1 Prototypical grammatical and semantic features, syntactic functions 4.2 Declension of adjectives, mixed and composed declension, function of nominal forms 5. Verb 5.1 Prototypical grammatical and semantic features, syntactic functions 5.2 Finite and non-finite forms 5.3 Conjugation of verbs, type of conjugation, analytic forms
