Prerequisites
This course is primarily for students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Studies. Previous knowledge from secondary school is required, or B1 level (based on CEFR).

Course objectives
The course is focused on academic skills and professional language. During the course all language skills will be practised (listening, reading comprehension, oral and written presentations). Other material is used - authentic recordings and texts, excercises. See Literature.
Syllabus
  • 1.Spanish in the world. Deciding on discussion themes for the semester.
  • 2.Language differences in Spain - official languages and dialects. Presentations in pairs or groups - structure, form and other requiremnets. Evaluation.
  • 3.Spanish in Latin America - differences. Indirect speech (indicative mood).
  • 4.Geographical and climatic differences in Spain. Indirect speech (order/request) - part 1.
  • 5.Cultural differences, customs and mentality of people in Spain. Indirect speech (order/request) - part 2.
  • 6.Holidays and traditions in Spain. Gastronomy. Clauses of purpose using the phrases Para/Para que/Para qué.
  • 7.Spanish art: music, film. Time clauses using the words Cuando/Cuándo.
  • 8.Spanish art: architecture, fine arts. Time clauses using the words Antes de (que)/Después de (que)/Hasta (que).
  • 9.Regional division of Spain. Relative clauses (1).
  • 10.Political system in Spain. Relative clauses (2).

Course completion requirements: written credit test and presentation. Active class participation is obligatory (70% attendance).

General note: Kurz je zakončen zápočtem (písemný test z probraného učiva). V dalším semestru pokračuje kurzem CJVS2M, který je zakončen zkouškou.
