- EXAM PhD in German
The objective test is to demonstrate the ability to use the German language spoken and written at the level of C1 ERR.
Examination of the German language is written 3 times a year usually in the test periods: January / February, June, September. Students of doctoral degree programs registered to IS in the agenda will find the exact date and hour of the test.
RECOGNITION of EXAM
If a student composed a language examination before, it may request recognition test by e-mail message to the course supervisor PhDr. Jana Vyorálková (mail: 57073@mail.muni.cz)

- A title acquired by a foreign university (studying in German)
- Publications - Book (nominee must be listed as first author or first co-author)
- Lecture notes (the candidate must be listed as first author or first co-author)
- Article (candidate must be listed as first author or first co-author)
- Output at a conference held in German language (the candidate must be listed as first author and lecturer, has published abstracts to present a contribution in written form)

- Teaching methods
- This is an EXAM COURSE ONLY where the student writes an essay on the dissertation topic or can obtain recognition based on previous work (see REQUIREMENTS below). There is NO participation component, therefore no teaching methodology. There are self-study materials, a bibliography and instructions for the student to consult.
- Assessment methods
- This is an EXAM COURSE ONLY. There is no participation component.
Students are obliged to either:
(1) write a essay on a dissertation topic (the exam) organized by the Language Education Centre for the School of Social Studies, MU Brno (FSS CJV), or
(2) have the exam recognized on the basis of previous work, or on the basis of appropriate documentation (such as a publication in the foreign language; see below). This written English exam (essay on dissertation topic) is regularly conducted 3 times a year: during exam periods in January/February, May/June and September. Students must register at least 3 working days before the exam date. Exam registration involves
(1) signing up in IS and
(2) a list of 5 topics (for an essay that would be about 4 standard pages long) that should be sent to FSS/FF CJV. Each topic must include a brief synopsis of about 5 lines, or 5 sentences, or 5 points. The topics must connect to the theme of the student’s dissertation and must be signed by the student’s ADVISOR in order to be accepted. At the actual sitting of the exam, the examiner will select one of the proposed topics.
