- Course objectives
- Syntax is that part of grammar which treats of the rules according to which words are combined to phrases and connected in the sentence. It deals with various types of sentences, their structure and meaning. The students should be able to use this knowledge in sentence analysis pointig out how the words of a sentence are related (parsing).

- Main previous and new syntactic theories and their influence on the description of the German language structure (J. Grimm, O. Erdmann; E.Drach, K. Boost, H. Glinz, J. Erben; transformational grammar: N.A. Chomsky); senence analysis.

- Teaching methods
- 1 hour (45 min.) lecture and 1 hour seminar per week The seminar is based on methods of presentation, analysis and synthesis of knowledge. It also uses collective work, in-class discussions and individual work of students.
