Course objectives
The Catalan Cinema seminar is intended for students with a basic knowledge of Catalan who wish to broaden their knowledge in the area as well as practice their language skills while watching the original versions of Catalan films. Cinema is an important component of Catalan culture, though it is generally perceived as part of Spanish culture in the broader European context. The seminar therefore sets out to point out the particularities.
Syllabus
  • The seminar focuses on the films of Ventura Pons, one of the noticeable figures in contemporary Catalan cinema as well as the films of Isabel Coixet, Bigas Luna, and others.
