- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide a survey of the development of the Croatian literature since the beginnings of the Slavonic written culture to the end of the 18th century. The characteristics of the dominant styles, genres, tendencies and creative methods is based on the contextual analysis of the most significant works of the Croatian literature of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Enlightenment. Croatian literature is examined in the context of the domestic as well as European historical and cultural developments. The seminar is based on the intensive home reading and the analysis of relevant texts. On successful completion of the course student will acquire knowledge of several epochs of the development of Croatian literature and he will deepen his skill to analyse and interpret a literary text.
