- Course objectives
- At the end of this lecture the student will be able to understand the history of the Roman Empire in the Principate and Dominate era.
- Syllabus
- 1) the solution of the crisis of the Republican regime - the beginnings of the Principate during the reign of Octavianus Augustus
- 2) the international and cultural policy during the reign of Octavianus Augustus
- 3) the consolidation of the Principate under the Julio-Claudian dynasty
- 4) the international and interior evolution of the Roman Empire at the times of the Flavian dynasty
- 5) the High Empire
- 6) the culture and every-day-life during the High Empire
- 7) the provinces during the High Empire
- 8) the Roman Empire during the Severan dynasty - the evolution of Roman citizenship, administrative reforms
- 9) the crisis of the Roman Empire in the years 235-270
- 10) the reforms of the builders of the Dominate as a solution of the crisis
- 11) the society in the Late Antiquity
- 12) the Roman state and Christianity
- 13) the elements of feudalization in the Late Roman Empire
