- The aim of this course is to introduce the students to elementary critical and methodological approaches to fiction literary writing. The course is conceived purely practically, a short theoretical overview of a problem is followed by practical application of acquired knowledge on short texts which the students will have prepared beforehand.

- I. On the threshold of the text II. The substance of the novel: the structures of the plot III. The heart of the novel: the story IV. What's behind the novel: the characters V. The discourse of the novel : the utterance VI. The reality of the novel: weaving in the extratextual VII. The reader in the novel
- Literature
- Teaching methods
- Lecture: description of the literary field, explanation and definition of basic notions and their demonstration on concrete texts by concrete authors. Seminar: Application of the acquired theoretical knowledge on authentic texts. In the form of a presentation the students show their capability to connect their theoretical knowledge while working with a concrete text.

- Credit: is obtained for attendance and active participation in the course (min. 80 %) and for seminar paper (analysis of a chosen novel).
