- Course objectives
- The main objective is to familiarize students with the formulation and evolution of ethnicities within the countries of Southern Europe. Students will be introduced with essential terminology of ethnicities theory and primary approaches to study of ethnical identity. After completion of this course students will be able to analyze problematic ethnic issues of the discussed countries and will be acquainted with the fundamental literature covering this topic.

- 2. Evolution of modern Europe - key events, that influenced ethnic image of Southern Europe
- 3. Language - fundamental ethnic attribute (language groups)
- 4. Ethnic composition of Spain, Portugal
- 5. Ethnic composition of France, Italy
- 6. Ethnic composition of former Yugoslavia
- 7. Ethnic composition of Greece and Albania
