Course objectives
Students will achieve knowledge of basements of andragogy and of principles of adults learning generally. They will understand specifics of using teaching methods in the process of adult education. Factors influencing effectiveness of learning process will be discussed and also methods and forms of adult learning. Special attention will be focused on the personality and techniques of lecturer's work.

  • 1. Andragogy – disciplinary frameworks, characteristics.
  • 2. Adult education and lifelong learning, human recources development.
  • 3. Andragogy and the other discipline: sociology, psychology, political economy.
  • 4. History of Andragogy.
  • 5.Adult education currently, contexts. Social and Economics trends. Decentralization, Europeanization, "recentralization".
  • 6.Adult education in national and international perspectives, Czech and European educational policy .
  • 7. Current paradigms of andragogy theories.
  • 8. Important person of 20. centuries - Knowles, Gagné, Jarvis.
  • 9. Important person of 20. centuries - Rogers, Freire, Mezirow
  • 10. Comtemporary andragogy. International research.
