- Základní komunikační znalost anglického jazyka. Cílem kurzu není testovat jazykové dovednosti. Ale domluvit se s ostatními studenty a s vyučujícím.

- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the field of international development. At the end of the course students should be able to understand and discuss main issues concerning international development such as state of poverty in various parts of the world, causes and effects of globalization, implementation of development assistance etc.
- Syllabus
- 1. What do we mean by development and how can we measure it? What does it mean to be poor in Africa and the Czech Republic? What are the main challenges the developing countries are facing nowadays? How does it all affect us? The first lecture will attempt to provide answers to these and many other questions related to the field of international development. 2. Development asssistance will be the core theme of the second lecture. Students will learn about major bilateral and multilateral donors, different tools of development assistance, the history and current debates as well as about the development assistance of the Czech Republic. 3. Development education – how can we teach about international development in an interesting and attractive way? What methods can we use? What are main international initiatives in development education? How do we do development education in the Czech Republic? 4. Globalization – how do we understand it? Is there only one globalization? What are the pros and cons? How do we all experience globalization in our daily lives? Is globalization different in other parts of the world? 5. Students‘ final project
