Course objectives
The goal of the course is to introduce the students to the current legal environment, to provide them with the necessary foundations that will help them act and decide in situations they will be facing in their social education careers. The course does not address all legal questions that may arise, but will help the student identify which legal norm to use in order to find the necessary information in detail. Students in this course will learn the fundamentals, i.e. the knowledge of the principal elements of our legal system. They will be introduced to the foundations of legal terminology and individual areas of law. These include selected areas of constitutional law, administrative law, civil law, commercial law, small business law, labour law, family law (with emphasis on the Code of Social and Legal Protection of Children), Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Bill of Rights and Liberties. Last but not least, the course will also cover the new Penal Code, focusing on the penal protection and penal responsibility of children and the youth.
