- Course objectives
- In this language course the manual Hogerop! De puntjes op de i. Nederlands voor vergevorderde anderstaligen (2006) by Winnie Geurtsen, Ghislaine Giezenaar en Ada van Deijk serves as a basis. The book is suitable for university students who want to improve their level of Dutch on different fields (speaking, reading, listening and writing). At the end of the course the students should be able to pass the exams for the profiles “Taalvaardigheid Hoger Onderwijs” and “Academische Taalvaardigheid” of the „Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde taal“ (Certificate of Dutch as a foreign language), corresponding resp. with B2 and C1 of the Common European Framework.
- Syllabus
- Seven "language acts" are dealt with in the manual Hogerop! De puntjes op de i. Nederlands voor vergevorderde anderstaligen (2006): giving and asking for information, exchange and defend points of view, speaking about extreme things and events, criticizing en reacting to criticism, dealing with directness and discretion, and speaking about emotions and using humor. Also extra material (articles, video's, songs,...) is used.

- Teaching methods
- Intensive student-orientated seminars: writing, reading, conversation, presentations, prosody, listening and language exercises.
- Assessment methods
- Seminars every week, 2 hours with a native speaker. Students participate in discussios, prepare an oral presentation and have to pass a written credit test at the end of the term.
