- Course objectives
- In this course we aim at level B2+/C1 according to the CEFR (European Framework of Reference for Languages). Students follow the course "Dutch for advanced speakers", which is set up according to the principle of the "flipped classroom". One week, students go through an online module, in which listening and vocabulary exercises are the main focus and attention is paid to language variation. The following week students prepare writing assignments, language input and vocabulary connected to the central topic. During the weekly classes vocabulary, writing and especially speaking are being practiced.
- Learning outcomes
- Students build on language skills and develop communication skills to get C1 at the end of the fourth semester.
- Syllabus
- In the first semester, the following six modules are treated:
- 1. What does your language reveal about you?
- 2. Do you talk differently if you watch a lot of TV?
- 3. Why do so many gifted people fail to graduate?
- 4. Can it be deadly to follow the news?
- 5. Why learn anything when you can google it?
- 6. Why do you get stress from sitting at home?
- The central questions are answered in the videos of the University of the Netherlands and Flanders around which the MOOC is built. Related themes are discussed in the MOOC, extra tasks and during class.
