Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
summarize educational aims of the Latin courses at secondary school;
give examples of the relationship between Latin and other subjects studied at the secondary school (with focus on the foreign languages);
discuss different teaching strategies and the use of modern methods;
describe different ways of the evaluation of student's work;
discuss the competences that the teacher of Latin should have.

  • 1. Latin in the Czech general educational programme - possibilities and reality.
  • 2. Educational and pedagogical aims of Latin courses at the secondary school.
  • 3. Pedagogical and educational strategies in development of students' competences defined by the general educational programme.
  • 4. Latin as compulsory, selective or optional course, effective teaching methods.
  • 5. Evaluation of student's work, ways of classification.
  • 6. Personality of a secondary school teacher.
  • 7. New school-leaving exam.
  • 8. School documentation.
