Course objectives
The course concentrates on the personalities and works that belongs to the term "the 19th century opera". The main points of the subject seem to be Wagner, Verdi, Russian opera and opera of other schools (France, Czech lands, Poland). Also the aspects of aesthetics and dramaturgy reflected in the works of composers and theorists (Hanslick, Stasov, Hostinský) are considered.
