Course objectives
The aim of the course is to give the students the instruments to approach an Art History text written in Italian and to give them the basic features to understand it. Through the analysis of a book, of the narration of the historical events and of the critical debate, the purpose is to allow students to interact with the Italian language. The course will consist of some lectures of Italian grammar (pronunciation and basic grammar), and of the translation of excerpts from the book by Enrico Castelnuovo Un pittore italiano alla corte di Avignone (together with the explanation of the historical context and of the critical debate) and then of a subsequent discussion on what the students have learned.
