- Course objectives
- Programme of modern Czech theatre, personalities of Czech theatre direction, periods of impressionism, symbolism, expressionism, civilism, dada, poetism and surrealism, analysis pivotal staging, dramatic production, metamorphoses of dramatic art, criticism.
- Syllabus
- 1. Organisation, introduction. 2. Influences and contexts of modern czech theatre. 3.-6. Evolutional contexts of as called czech moderna and its bequest to avant-garde. Karel Hugo Hilar and Národní divadlo (National Theatre in Prague) in 1918-1935. Jaroslav Kvapil in Municipal Theatre in Prague. 7.-8. Metamorphoses of profesional and private theatres from 1918 to 1935. 9.-12. Metamorphoses of avant-gardistic style (from proletarian theatre groups to private theatres, influence of avant-gardists on frontal czech stages´ style). 13. Theatrical education, theatre and criticism. Puppet theatre.
