- Course objectives
- Course presents all branches of Afroasiatic macrophylum first of all. The main attendance is devoted to the Semitic language family which is best documented. In details are discussed various models of genetic classification, comparative phonetics and morfology of the most important Semitic languages of the past and present. Students should be acquainted with grammatical structure of the most important Semitic languages.
- Syllabus
- 1. Survey of the Afroasiatic languages and the position of the Semitic branch. 2. Models of classification of the Semitic languages and thein detailed survey. 3. Sketch of a comparative-historical phonology of the Semitic languages. 4. Sketch of a comparative-historical morfology of the Semitic languages. 5. Introduction to the scripts used to rekord the Semitic languages.

- The teacher practically demonstrates the structures of the most important Semitic languages of the past and present and their scripts. In the following step students present their descriptions of chosen Semitic languages.
