- Course objectives
- This is an introductory course in English lingustics. Its aim is to provide the students with the basic information about language and its functions, the levels of language, the scientific study of languages, the various disciplines of linguistics, as well as the characteristics of the English language - its past and present. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the role of language as an instrument of human communication and the as subject of scientific inquiry.

- Written exam at the end of the course. Students must prove knowledge of the relevant literature and lectures. Students are expected to meet all requirements (attendance, etc.) in harmony with the study regulations. Students are also expected to read the relevant chapters during the course and in advance of the actual class sessions.
