- Course objectives
- Students will acquire basic knowledge about the nomadic tribes of the ancient Mediterranean and the area of Black Sea - Cimmerians, Scythians, Sarmatians and Avars.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction and basic literature 2. Basic knowledge of nomadic society 3. Cimemrians - the first wave of nomadic tribes in the area of Black Sea 4. Scythians - history according to ancient sources and archaeological finds 5. Scythians - arts and Scythians influence in the culture of Western civilizations 6. Sarmatians - successors of Scythians 7. Sarmatians - first clashes with the Roman Empire 8. Sarmatians - culture and arts 9. Avars - coming into Europe and their history on this continent
