- Course objectives
- Students will learn basics of modern Turkish language. Study will contain basics of grammar, basic vocabulary, listening and conversation exercises, which will enable students to communicate in Turkish language about basic and common things.
- Syllabus
- Week 1: Turkish alphabet and pronounciation, vowel harmony. Plurals. Week 2: Personal pronouns(ben, sen, o, biz, siz, onlar). Bu, şu, o. To be (-im) Week 3: Possessive Pronouns (-im, -in, -ın, -(n)un). Questions (mı, mi, mu, mü). Week 4: Commands. Present and continues tense (-ar, -yor). Word order in a sentence. Softening: p, ç, t, k -> b, c, d, ğ Week 5: Forming negatives. Can/Can’t (-ebil, -emem). Week 6: Numbers. How many? How much? To want. To have (almak). Week 7: Interrogatives: Who, what (kim, ne)? Accusative case (-i), dative case (-e). Week 8: Days, months. Interrogatives: When, Where? Locative case (-de, -da), ablative case (-den, dan). Week 9: To prefer (tercih etmek). Interrogatives: How, which, why? Week 10: Modal verbs (must-have to, should, need). -meli, -malı. Lazım, zorundayım. Week 11: Accents, dialects of Turkish language. Week 12: Common use of informal language and jokes. Screening: Turkish film G.O.R.A.
