- A series of lectures offers an insight into exploring of the fantastic literature from an interdisciplinary perspective, presents a recent theories of fantastic literature, focuses on the the development of selected fantastic genres and on the sociological analysis of fandom subculture. Attention will be paid to selected representations of fantastic within Czech culture.
After completing the course, students will be able to:
Orientate themselves in the presented theories and genres of fiction;
Recognize the inspiring possibilities of interdisciplinary approach towards fantastic literature;
Understand the impact of Fantastic on contemporary culture;
They will familiar with the development of Czechoslovak fandom;
Acquire basic knowledge about the application of cognitive science at fantastic. - Syllabus
