- Course objectives
- This proseminar points out the basic explication of the topics from the lecture Introduction to Classical Archaeology, using practical examples to illustrate the theoretical principles of classical archaeological research; the major stages in the development of Classical art; basic documentation of preserved works of art in the areas of architecture, sculpture and painting and iconography. On the end of this course student should by able understand these topics and make deductions based on acquired knowledge.
- Syllabus
- Practical exercises connected to the topics of the lecture Introduction to the classical archaeology: practise with the the basic literature, specialized journals and collected publications of Classical documents; Basic explication of the history of greek,etruscan and roman civilisations and the chronology of figural arts concerning each of their categories. Typology of vases and architecture practise the sources - specialised enycyclopedias, PWRE Overview of the specialised Corpus of classical materials inscriptions(CIG, CIL), sculptures(CSIR), vases (CVA), etruscan mirrors (CSE), etc. Overview of the most important specialised Web sites.
