- Course objectives
- The goal is to introduce Middle-Age Aesthetics as a natural part of the branch namely as a structure of teories which most modern or contemporary thinking about beauty or art spring from.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will learn and acquire the current approaches, methods and concepts in use and practice.

- 1. Plotin: beauty and art as symbol, light and abstract simplicity 2. Augustin: art as a message 3. Boëthius: Pythagorian music 4. Johannes Scotus Eriugena: irrational way to beauty 5. Suger: a theory in practice 6. 12. Century Scholastics : unum, verum, bonum 7. Bonaventura: aliud dicitur, aliud demonstratur 8. Thomas Aquinas: proportio, integritas, claritas 9. Mystics 10. Dante 11. Property of beaury as time went by: beauty as case of eternal transcendentality 12. Survey: 1000 years of thinking about and of beauty
