Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of French and to develop the vocabulary and communicative competence (level A2/B1 CEFR).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand explained vocabulary and use it in spoken and written language;
- explain and apply grammar discussed in seminars.
Syllabus
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • 1.Expressing (dis)agreement, indifference, (un)certainty (Unit 1).
  • 2. Expressing a point of view, intentions (Unit 2).
  • 3. Justifying choices (Unit 3).
  • 4. Expressing preferences (Unit 4).
  • 5. Expressing joy, sadness, fear (Unit 5).
  • 6. Expressing anger, dissatisfaction, disppointment (Unit 6).
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • 1. Recent past, disjunctive possessive pronouns.
  • 2. Past tenses (passé composé, imparfait, plus-que-parfait).
  • 3. Interrogative pronouns qui/que.
  • 4. Subjonctif. Negation (ni, no que).
  • 6. Order of two personal pronouns.
  • 7. Comparison.
  • Training DELF A2.

Teaching methods
All the basic methods of CLT programme (Communicative Language Teaching) are used: individual, pair, group activities (conversation, practice, drill). Listening exercices. Homework.
Assessment methods
Written test (grammar, vocabulary, translation), minimum pass level 70%.
Submission of six written translations and six essays before the end of semester is obligatory (see Study materials).
Attendance at 8 seminars minimum during the semester is obligatory.
