- Course objectives
- In the course, one central aim is addressed - to make the participants read short texts of fiction and discuss them with fellow students.
Each term, the selection of texts to read and discuss is centered around a common topic - one of the "eternal topics" such as love and hate, art and artists, or sacrifice and suicide. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- read and understand short texts of fiction,
- make and defend their hypotheses on what exactly the texts say,
- develop their arguments in close relation to the text,
- understand the pieces of short fiction in the context of dealing with a certain "eternal topic" and in the context of the text's period of origin. - Syllabus
- The eternal topic of winter term 2018 will be SOCIAL CRITICISM AND UTOPIA.
