Course objectives
In the course, one central aim is addressed - to make the participants read short texts of fiction and discuss them with fellow students.
Each term, the selection of texts to read and discuss is centered around a common topic - one of the "eternal topics" such as love and hate, art and artists, or sacrifice and suicide.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- read and understand short texts of fiction,
- make and defend their hypotheses on what exactly the texts say,
- develop their arguments in close relation to the text,
- understand the pieces of short fiction in the context of dealing with a certain "eternal topic" and in the context of the text's period of origin.

  • The eternal topic of winter term 2018 will be SOCIAL CRITICISM AND UTOPIA.
