Course objectives
Provide student some psychohygienic recommen dation and relaxation- activation methods, that can contribute in keeping or deepening of menthal health
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course student should: be acquainted with stress situations a its impact on human mind; be able to broaden her/his coping strategies and to use methods of relaxation-activation
Syllabus
  • I. HEALTH: quality of life, scale of importance of psychosocial pressure II. STRESS AND ITS CONSEQENCES 1.STRESS CREATING FACTORS: - demanding life situations - the essence of stress - variety of stress creating factors 2. SYMPTOMATOLOGY OF STRESS: - difficult environmental adaptation by neurotic disorders - post-traumatic stress disorder - "burnout syndrome" - psychosomatic disorders 3. INDIVIDUAL MANIFESTATIONS OF STRESS: in sensitivity and predispositions to stress III. STRESSFUL SITUATIONS HANDLING CONDITIONS AND POSSIBILITIES: 1. Mechanisms of psychological defense - coping strategies - styles 2.STRUCTURE OF PERSONALITY - typological unusualness in reaction on and experiencing of stress - personality type "A" - workaholic - possibilities and limits of personality restructuring 3. THE IMPORTANCE OF POSITIVE THINKING: thoughts and emotions patterns 4. Mental hygiene in educational and work processes 5. Social relationships - partnership and intimate coexistence IV. RELAXATION ACTIVATION METHODS: 1. Methods, ways and means of psychological release – the core and principles of relaxation methods V. DEMONSTRATIONS AND TRAINING OF RELAXATION METHODS: 1. short term /progressive/ ways of relaxation - oxyacetylene training – Jacobson‘s relaxation - Yoga etc. 2.Strategies of immunization: How professionals handle the stress – rules of life – Rozenkreuz‘s Decalogue "How to not worry with troubles" etc.

lectures, seminars, training – active participation of students in test methods with evaluation of individuals; training and acquiring of relaxation-activation methods
Assessment methods
Credit course is completed. The condition of obtaining a pass a written examination and the essay, which should be submitted one week before the signing to end the subject. The theme and scope of the essay will be specified in the instruction.Written test of 18 multiple-choise questions, minimum pass level 75%.
