- Course objectives
- The aim of the subject is to link information from fine art and literature, leading to understanding of a work of art, his "second life" - interpretations, paraphrases etc. Multilayered context of an work of art, which includes also the reception of viewers, critics, and last but not least orderers and their advisers. Defending particular work of art by reference to the established history of literature, transfer under a certain ideology, etc., however, often proved to be one-dimensional reduction of the visual sense of the work.

- 1. "Birth" of an artist in Renaissance, shaping social status, mythologization artistic biography.
- 2. Iconography and iconology - from academic allegory to citation and quotes.
- 3. Language of art criticism - commensurate power with a work of art?
- 4. Architecture and ideology - the stories of important buildings from the 19th century.
- 5. Illustration as a multilayered interpretation of the text.
- 6. Large panoramas and popular literature of the 19th century - notes to mass culture.
- 7. History of scenography - interpretation of the dramatic text.
- 8. Picture as "poetry" - pictures of Botticelli, Tizian and Giorgini.
- 9. Historic painting of the 19th century and the possibilities of its recovery in Germany after the Second World War.
