- Course objectives
- In the lecture we will get acquainted with all the areas connected to teaching Czech as second/foreign language. Attention will be paid to teaching adults as well as children. Statistical data and the specifics of teaching different target groups will be mentioned. Special attention will be paid to teaching those who have gained asylum or other types of international protection and their children. One of the most important perspectives through which we will look at teaching Czech as second/foregin language will be the psycholinguistic perspective, in particular language acquisition. We will sketch how two or more languages work in the minds of people. We will get acquainted with teaching methodology and materials. One of the most important topics will be language diagnostics, testing and evaluation of mistakes. We will gain broader knowledge concerning the role of Czech within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the types of exams, which foreigners can take in Czech (certificates, permanent residence, citizenship). Last but not least, attention will be paid to the inclusion of children with different mother tongues to Czech educational system and the language support at all levels. The lecture „Introduction into teaching Czech as a foreign language“ will serve a theoretical background and a prerequisite for further, practically oriented seminars.
