Course objectives
By handing in the dissertation the students demonstrate their capacity of pursuing independent scholarly work. They are capable of discussing contemporary scholarly problems in the realm of anglophone literary studies. And they have made a singificant and original contribution to anglophone literary scholarship.
The credits are awarded for the submission of the completed dissertation and upon its acceptance by the supervisor. The minimum number of characters of the dissertation is 180 000. The work must be handed in in hardcover in two copies. The full text of the dissertation thesis must be inserted into the MU information system, including the Czech and English language resume and keywords (see the methodology of the final thesis assignment in the IS).
Learning outcomes

And they have made a singificant and original contribution to anglophone literary scholarship.
Syllabus
  • Ideally in their eighth semester, in this course students will submit the completed dissertation. The objective is to successfully complete and submit the dissertation.

  • Due to the specific nature of the subject no mandatory reading is required.
Teaching methods
Ideally in their eighth semester, in this course students will submit the completed dissertation. The objective is to successfully complete and submit the dissertation. The method of work: independent work with primary and secondary sources; consistent textual production; regular consultations with the supervisor.
Assessment methods
The thesis is assessed by two reviewers, at least one of which is external. The reviewers write a report, clearly indicating their suggestion whether the standards of the sumbitted thesis correspond to the general standards common in this area of research.
