Course objectives
This subject is an introductory (opening) course to the teaching of diplomatics. Students will be presented with the content of diplomatics as a history discipline, the focus of interest and the phases in the development of this academic subject. The basic concepts and terms of this discipline will be learned as part of the interpretation of the analytical, genetic and systematic levels of diplomacy. The basic methodological approaches will be part of the overview of diplomatic studies and the types of diplomatic sources.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- define the subject of diplomatics
- define its main developmental phases
- name and distinguish its basic levels - analytical, genetic and systematic
- understand the basic concepts and terms of the discipline
- understand the basic literature
