- Course objectives
- It is expected to further develop students’ communicational skills in Russian putting emphasis on removal of obstacles caused by Czech–Russian interference in grammar and vocabulary. Student should be able to understand adapted journalistic and literary texts on certain topics; to discuss and argue on set topics; to independently work with texts using gained knowledge.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the student will be able:
- to understand journalistic and literary texts on discussed topics and authentic recordings in Russian language;
- to independently work with texts on discussed topics using gained knowledge;
- to correctly at high level express his/her own opinion on the certain communicational situation from phonetical, lexical and grammar point of view, using new vocabulary both in oral and written forms;
- to discuss and argue on covered topics in Russian. - Syllabus
- 1. Parents and children or generation problems.
- 2. How to be a good speaker: speak culture and rhetoric in practice.
- 3. Social problems of modernity.
- 4. Netiquette or rules and principles of behaviour in the internet world.
- 5. Work and employment: choosing the future employment, request for vacancy, competition—how to succeed.
- 6. Informal Russian, slang.
- 7. Culture in modern men’s life.
- 8. Books. Children literature.
- 9. Newspapers and art: media, television (advantages and disadvantages).
- 10. Advertisement, manipulation, promotion.
- 11. Discoveries of science and technology and their influence on modern men.

- Conversational exercises, discussions, group projects, oral and video presentations, regular homework and submission of essays.

- Regular active seminar participation, regular fulfillment of assigned tasks (searching and studying material on a certain topic, preparation and presentation, essay writing and submission, active discussion participation on a predetermined topic, etc.), two absences are allowed.
