- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to enhance knowledge about world and Czech historiography of the 20th century. Emphasis is placed on paradigmatic changes, on key social debates and on the relationships between history and the social sciences (philosophy, sociology, political science). The course builds on basic bachelor's and master's knowledge, but is focused more on the application of this knowledge to their own research work and their use in writing dissertation theses.

- Scientific review focused on historiographical problems with recommendations for publication opportunities (Časopis Matice moravské, Český časopis historický atd.)

- 1. Working with resources and the concept of work in important European historians
- 2. Domestic and foreign historical schools and workplaces
- 3. Specifics of history as science, knowledge and power
- 4. Ideological influences on historical narrative, nationalism and history
- 5. Disputes between historical schools, progress of historical research
- 6. Political, economic, social and cultural history
- 7. The Annales School, Marxist historiography and other trends of the 20th century
- 8. Postmodern critique of historical work, the problem of objectivity

- Individual consultations focusing on historiographical aspects of the dissertation, online courses and lectures by important foreign experts, methodological guest seminars; focus on language and style of historical publications, guidelines for writing high quality sceintific reviews.

- Colloquium focused on verification of knowledge, especially methodological and conceptual questions, written exam according to recommended topics and topics of guest lectures, feedback on the required review.
