- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to explore the possibilities of the existence of philosophy in the modern technological world, where most traditional philosophical topics have been taken over by other disciplines. The content of the course is the reading of various texts that deal with the relationship of technology and human culture (Bostrom, Tegmark, Harari etc.). The course participants will try to find out whether philosophy can anything say about the problems presented - and whether there is a specific philosophical perspective at all. The seminar has a form of a guided discussion over texts read at home.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be able to present selected ideas about today's society; explain their nature; to explain their basic problems; to formulate their assumptions and consequences; to reconstruct and to evaluate their arguments; to show their dependency on context; to characterize their historical conditionality.
