- Methods of Archaeological Prospection and Excavation is a compulsory course which students are recommended to complete in the first years of the Bachelor's degree programme.

- Course objectives
- The main objectives of the course are:
- training of future archaeologists who, after completing the course, will be able to define the scientific objectives to which the survey and research in the field should contribute; they will be able to conduct independent field surveys and excavations and will be able to present the scientific outputs of joint research activities in a team
- the aim is to prepare students for direct involvement in existing IAM research teams, where they will gain direct experience at all levels of archaeological research and survey - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to independently solve the following tasks:
1. Archaeological prospecting:
Determination of the prospecting method
Determination of the surface survey methodology
Recording of movable artefacts and samples
Study of old maps
Selection of other appropriate methods of survey
2. Archaeological excavation:
Surveying of the research area
Determination of excavation methods
Excavation of archaeological contexts
Documentation of archaeological contexts
Archiving of documents
Recording of movable artefacts and samples
Completion of excavation on site and preparation for further processing of acquired information - Syllabus
