Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the specific features of selected fund groups. Individual meetings are led by practising archivists who specialize in work with the selected segment of the national archival heritage. Students will find out about the genesis of individual fund groups, their establishment in the context of the history of administration and special features of their processing and accessibility.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- describe the specific content of individual collections in the state archives
- describe the specific features when working with them
- explain the origin of individual collections in the context of the history of administration
- summarize the research possibilities for using diverse types of collections

  • 2. large estates;
  • 3. family archives;
  • 4. cadastral development of land administration;
  • 5. financial management funds;
  • 6. authorities with district jurisdiction;
  • 7. archives of communities, MNV, OÚ;
  • 8. judicial funds at the provincial, regional and district level;
  • 9. archives of societies;
  • 10. archival collections;
  • 11. archival funds of industrial enterprises;

Teaching methods
Seminars consist of presentations by various external lecturers, which will be followed by a discussion on the topic in question. In addition, students produce an independent seminar paper, which will be the subject of a debate at the end of the seminar.
Assessment methods
Passing the course is dependent upon active participation in the seminar, writing a seminar paper and a discussion of this paper.
