- Course objectives
- The course covers the students' presentation of a part of their Ph.D. research at an international conference, i.e. a conference with an international impact and international audience which takes place in a world language (English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish). The course must be taken in the semester when the conference is held or in the immediately following semester.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- choose a topic from their Ph.D. research appropriate for presentation at an international conference and interesting for scholars in the respective field;
- prepare and submit a paper abstract and obtain its acceptance by the organizers of the conference;
- prepare a paper (with presentation) or a poster in a world language;
- present the paper or poster at an international conference;
- react to questions and critical feedback on the presentation in the questions & answers session.
- Syllabus
- Choice of a relevant topic from the student’s Ph.D. research which is prepared for presentation to an international audience.
- Choice of a relevant conference, registration, submission of the abstract.
- Preparation of the paper or poster.
- Consultations with the supervisor or with other experts in the field about the paper or poster.
- Finalization of the paper or poster based on the feedback from the supervisor.
- Preparation of the presentation or poster.
- Participation at the conference and presentation of the paper or poster.
- Consultation with the supervisor concerning feedback from conference participants .

- Teaching methods
- Individual work on a conference presentation or poster with the help of the supervisor; discussion of feedback received from the supervisor; preparation of the paper or poster based on the feedback.
- Assessment methods
- Course participants submit to the home vaults in the Information system of MU: (1) proof of acceptance of the paper or poster, usually in the form of the conference programme or the book of abstracts, and (2) the conference presentation or poster as a file. Assessment is made on the basis of proven participation at the international conference where the paper or poster is presented (50 %), and the academic and formal quality of the submitted conference contribution or poster (50 %). Another requirement is creating a publication record in the IS MU publication database and completing all necessary data fields.
