Course objectives
The course aims are to provide students with real-life experiences from secondary schools. Students observe and shadow their mentor, and prepare and teach lessons in tandem and individually. Students reflect on their experiences in personal written reflections and prepare a portfolio to demonstrate their professional development.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will be able - to cooperate with a mentor/introducing teacher, - to observe lessons and reflect on the observations, - to plan English language skills/systems lessons for classes of various proficiency and age levels that contain appropriate lesson aims and stages, suitable interaction patterns, a balance of activities, appropriate timing for different stages, analysis of language with a clear focus on meaning, form and use, and anticipated problems and solutions, - to create detailed lesson plans to support their teaching, - to teach a 45-minute English language skills/systems lesson demonstrating effective execution of their planning, adjusting their language appropriately to the level, identifying and correcting errors, and managing and organizing the class. - to analyse their own teaching classroom planning and practice and reflect on their teaching in speaking and writing.

Teaching methods
practice in secondary school (observation, tandem teaching, teaching, feedback and reflection with mentor and alone)
Assessment methods
To pass the course the students are required to: 1. Contact their mentor within one week of receiving the contact details. 2. Discuss their professional development plan and aims with their mentor at the beginning and during the practice. 3. Spend the required number of hours in school doing the activities described at the official website https://www.phil.muni.cz/student/pedagogicke-praxe/pokyny-pro-studujici#praxe2 and strive for the maximum development of the students whose education they contribute to during the teaching practice. 4. Cooperate with the mentor, and show maximum flexibility on the student's part. 5. Demonstrate professionalism (responsibility, punctuality, preparation, adhering to the rules of the school). 6. Strive for their professional development. Based on the evidence in their reflective diary and portfolio, students continuously evaluate their professional development with the help of their mentor. At the end of the teaching practice, students fill out the self-reflection instrument based on continuous evaluation. 7. Submit required documents by the date set for the particular semester in Homework vaults in IS. No credits when documents are submitted after the deadline. 8. Contact the manager of the teaching practice and the university lecturer immediately in the case when any problems or barriers during the teaching practice occur.
