- Course objectives
- The course is focused on the analysis of basic concepts (eg. modernization, revolution, nacionalism, secularization, socialism) used in historiography a social sciences to characterize historical events and processes in the 19th and 20th centuries.The terms are analysed on concrete resources dealing with the understanding of time and space, utopian thought, understanding of progress, ideology, beginning of political parties, national principle, the decline of religion in the public sphere, civic principle and europocentrism. The aims of the course is to teach students to analyse modern social structures, institutions, mentality, and differentiate modern and pre-modern society.

- The student will be able to
- determine the importance of historical concepts in the context of concepts applied in humanities,
- distinguish types of concepts (classifying, complex, ideal-typological) in particular historical issues,
- write an essay analyzing a given concept. - Syllabus
