- Course objectives
- This course is intented as an introductory course into Arab culture. Throughout the course, students will familiarize themselves with the history and development of the Arabic language, acquire knowledge of the MENA countries as well as the history of Arabic studies in Europe. They will get acquainted with the primary value systems, customs and traditions prevalent in the region.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, students will demostrate:
- general knowledge of the Arabic language, its history and present situation;
- knowledge about the countries comprising the Arab world;
- an overview of the history of Arabistics in Europe;
- an overview of the history of the Arabs;
- understanding of the primary value systems, customs and traditions of the MENA region. - Syllabus
