- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is the application of basic knowledge translation processes in the translation of a specific scientific text. The course will be in lecture focused on the introduction to the theory of translation of scientific texts. In the seminar part of the course students will apply acquired knowledge to his own translation of the e.g. linguistic, sociological, historical texts from French to Czech.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, a student will be capable of a competent interpretation of a French scientific text and of its adequate translation.

- 1. bibliography on the theory of professional translation 2. introduction to the most common problems in the translation of scientific texts, defining the translation processes 3. concrete translation of scientific texts and translations of a common analysis

- Teaching methods
- Familiarization with the theoretical problems of translation of scientific texts from the humanities. Translation of texts from French into Czech. Joint analysis of specific texts translated, defining translation processes. Application of acquired knowledge on authentic texts.
- Assessment methods
- Final written exam - language text of the thematic focus. Condition for admission to the examination is active participation in seminar (85 %) and continuous production and presenting of the specified translation.
