For this period of history, students should become familiar with: a) the typology and dating of Latin books, documents and inscriptions in the period from Early Gothic to the end of the Middle Ages; b) paleographic characteristics of individual script types of this era; c) paleographic analysis and comparisons; d ) the transcription of high and late medieval Latin texts; e) an overview of basic literature and editions, including the history of research on the Latin script of this period; f) the typology of diplomatic and literary Latin texts largely associated with genre innovations of the 14th century related to the establishment of the University of Prague and the early Czech reformation.
