- Course objectives
- The course initiates students in presentation skills in English with special emphasis on presentation at academic conferences. It targets general presentation competencies as well as specific skills in the context of conference papers delivered in an international, English-speaking academic environment. Equally importantly, it helps students to become less shy to present in English and to acquire the basic phraseology needed for academic presentations.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- present at a conference;
- use slides efficiently;
- avoid the most common mistakes in presenting;
- successfully answer questions about their presentation;
- present in English at a reasonable level;
- present their research credibly in conference small talk.

- Teacher's evaluation of the student's short presentation of their research (10%). Teacher's evaluation of the rhetorical quality of a presentation (including slides) on a topic from the student's dissertation research (90%).
