- Course objectives
- The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the features of Russian contemporary morphology and to confront this system to the Czech morphological system. The main aim of the lectures is in students’ applying gained knowledge in practical language communication course is to give an overview of the Russian syntax in comparison to the Czech.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the student should be able:
- to describe the basics of morphological system of Russian;
- to identify and to distinguish Russian parts of speech;
- to determine the type of conjunction and declination;
- to conjugate and to decline different types of verbs, nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals;
- to compare adjectives and adverbs;
- to confront and to analyse the differences of Russian Czech morphological systems. - Syllabus
- 1. Grammar and its parts. The subject of morphology. Parts of speech.
- 2. Nouns, their lexical and grammar types. Grammar category of nouns in comparing to the Czech: gender, number, case, animacy. Nouns declination in Russian. Nouns declinational types in Russian in comparison to the Czech language. Proper names and their declination. Accentological types of nouns. Indeclinable nouns.
- 3. Adjectives. Semantical types of adjectives. Long and short forms of adjectives. Accentological types of short adjectives. Comparative and superlative forms of adjectives—ways of formation and use.
- 4. Pronouns—general characteristics. Kinds of pronouns and their specific features in comparison to Czech.
- 5. Numerals—kinds of numerals and their grammatical meaning. Cardinal numerals—their declination, morphological specifics and use. Constructions with numerals. Distributive numerals.
- 6. Verb. The system of verbal forms. Transitive and intransitive verbs. Reflexive and irreflexive verbs. Verb aspect. Forming aspectual correlation. Grammatical category of tense. Imperative mood. Conditional mood. Verbs of motion. Accentological types of verbs.
- 7. Indefinite verbal forms: participle and transgressive, their morphological category.
- 8. Prepositions, conjunctions, particles, interjections.
- 9. Sum up.

- Teaching methods
- The course has a form of lectures and seminars.
- Assessment methods
- The students who enrolled in the course must attend it regularly. The course will end with a written exam on discussed material.Students who enroll in the course are required to attend classes. At the end of the semester, they will have an online examination of the material covered. They will have to identify the shapes of the different word types and put the shapes in parentheses in the correct shapes.
