- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to make the students familiar with basic knowledge in the following disciplines: classical phonology (Trubeckoj, Martinet), Harvard binarism (Jakobson), classical generative phonology (Chomsky, Halle), feature geometry.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the student is able to analyze and apply the linguistic material using the following methodological approaches: classical phonology (Trubeckoj, Martinet), Harvard binarism (Jakobson), classical generative phonology (Chomsky, Halle), feature geometry.

- Foundation of phonology, Prague school, the definition of phonology, description of the phoneme, theory of oppositions, neutralization, archiphoneme, phonological markedness od the consonants and vocals, structure of the syllable, suprasegmental elements, practical application of the Binarist theory of the phoneme I, Harvard school, features, practical application of the Binarist theory of the phoneme II, generative school, feature geometry
