This course is intended for distant students who have an intermediate/upper-intermediate knowledge of English (B1 at least). An exemption to study the contact course CJVA2B can be exceptionally granted to the students who apply for it should the capacity of the seminar groups allow. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- The course is aiming at achieving the B2 level (based on the Common European Framework of Reference) of English language competence. At the end of this course students should be able to understand the main ideas of relatively complex texts on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation. Students should be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. They should be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the students will be able to: give a short presentation dealing with topic related to their studies and discuss the topic write an abstract of their presentation write an essay based on an academic text ask questions about academic presentations in various disciplines.

- Teaching methods
- It is an online course, without class participation. Students work individually with the study materials and online exercises and submit continuous tasks.
- Assessment methods
- The course requires completing continuous assigments. The course is completed by exam tasks at B2 level according to CEFR which include an oral presentation, abstract, discussion and essay.

- Information on completion of the course: zkouška se skládá z písemné a ústní části. Písemná část ověřuje schopnost porozumět slyšenému a psanému text, znalost mluvnice a lexika a schopnost napsat argumentativní text. Ústní zahrnuje prezentaci doplněnou písemným abstraktem.
